Fall Harvest, Part One

We had a whirlwind of a Saturday!

We met up at 9:45 and hit Starbucks for some fuel (thank you auntie Jeanette for the pumpkin spice latte and apple bran muffin!)

Then we set off for the giant garage sale. It was held at the fairgrounds. For a 1.00 entry fee, you got 8 buildings full, and I say FULL, of stuff! Antiques, primitive home, junk, housewares, more junk, crafts.....you name it, you probably could have found it there!

Tara scored this cute little white magazine rack. I think my mom had one similar to this, in a dark stain, when I was a kid.

My aunt is clutching her score of the day, a gorgeous cowhide rug. It was probably a 1/3 of the price it should have been.

Inside the buildings and barns, we shopped 'til we dropped. It was a matter of divide and conquer. At one booth I found a little faux cast iron urn sitting on a chair. I asked the woman how much it was and she told me that another gal was already getting it and would be right back for it. I kept looking around at other items in her booth and the woman said again, "I don't know where she is, she should be back soon." Then here she came- and it was Tara! That stinker! Like minds.......she also scooped up some great vintage glass Christmas balls at that booth as well.

Loading our treasures into the truck......we became quite proficient with a hand-truck. This industrial metal stand on wheels sold the minute we got it into the door of the shop!

That white chippy box? I bought two of them (they are bottomless) from a bee keeper and his son. I'm going to use them for display in All That Jazz Vintage.

After getting lunch, we hit two harvest sales. The first one was Pole Barn Primitives.

These ladies are only open 4 times a year and have the greatest things! Lots of rusty and chippy metals and woods.

I love old pails and water troughs!

I bought a white pumpkin and fall colored mums for my patio.

Tara bought this cute white table.

Love the patina on this old chair! The berries are fun, too.

The next stop was a similar harvest sale ran out of someone's home, The Country Shed. I did not take any pictures there but I got a great industrial white 3-shelved cart on wheels, gently rusted on the top, for $10! I am going to try to fit it someplace in my apartment.

After we left that harvest sale, our marathon day continued- we headed to the shop to unload and price our new treasures. Next time, I'll share photos of how it all turned out!!

Jazzin' It Up For Autumn!

I was so excited to add some fall goodies to the shop this weekend! I have been working hard on collecting and hand-crafting items that I think reflect the rustic elegance and country vibe of fall.

First, I have to tell you- I went to the farmer's market the other day and bought the most beautiful bouquets of flowers~ for $5 each! I had the vendor put together one grouping of just orange-colored dahlias. I've been seeing dahlias around the blogs and they are my new fave flower.

I moved the topiary off this little table and replaced it with a cork vase filled with orange dahlias on it....I love the pop of color with the green!

Aren't the colors on these flowers just YUMMY?

Oh goodness, what a difference flowers make! I put a few stems in the bathroom (sorry I didn't move my bathroom stuff when I took this photo.) Getting up and ready at 6:15 a.m. isn't so bad when I face fresh flowers in the morning!

I'm going to have to make fresh flowers a more frequent must-do for myself!

Okay, on to the goods!

My collection of treasures for the shop just end up piled up in my place until I can get them cleaned, painted, embellished, and tagged and priced.

Old book and basket......colorful faux foliage (hey, it doesn't make a mess!)

This little black table is tiny but soooooo adorable, I loved the details! I almost had to keep it for myself, but don't have a perfect place for it.

Framed bling crown....

Three-bottle bud vase bound by galvanized metal....with twigs.

I did the burlap BOO signs in black and white. No that is not a ghostly apparition on the glass, just a reflection. Maybe............

I did a few with autumn quotes and pictures of black cats, too.

Saturday was SO busy but also so much fun......can't wait to catch you in my next post once I get the pictures downloaded. I hope you had a happy weekend!

Fall....Where Are You??

There is something about fall that makes me want to wrap myself in plaid blankets and sit under a chilly evening of stars roasting marshmallows.

Wear rubber wellies and fisherman sweaters and go to a pumpkin patch then get a warm spicy muffin and latte.

{above 3 photos courtesy of Country Living.com}

Yesterday around 6 p.m. I drank a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks outside, under their heat lamps.
I was sweating in a simple long-sleeved t-shirt! There was something not quite right about a muggy drizzle on a late September day in the Pacific Northwest. When you are actually so warm you are wishing you'd gotten your latte iced....

Yes, I am complaining. I don't mind rainy days. Or September sun. But rain....and humidity?
It's just not right around here! I want that smell of autumn on the air, that slight coolness that makes you feel glad you grabbed your sweater as you headed out the door.....

Ah well. I just know those crisp fall nights will be here before you know it!!!

I have a busy weekend coming up, starting with Harvest Night from 4-8 on Friday night at Painted Lady Vintage (and including other local shops.) I will also be adding some of my latest fall creations to our All That Jazz Vintage space (I'll share those with you in an upcoming post) and  power shopping a few fall harvest sales with my cousin Tara!

I can't wait!

Hmmm.....should I keep out my flip-flops and tank tops??

A Winner and The Last Day of Summer

Thanks to all of you that entered our little giveaway! We have a winner~ Polly at the fabulous Sassafras Stuff blog. Yipee! Congrats, Polly, please send me an email  at allthatjazzvintage@gmail.com so I can get some information from you!

I've been pulling out a few fall goodies at my house.

The green window has been sitting on my floor since last spring. I "bought" it from our space (it was a find from my cousin) for $15. Even though I am not usually into green, I couldn't resist the chippy wood. And, the green was a cool shade of green.  The backside is white chippy, so it has potential to be reversed if I tire of the green. For now, I hung a wooden star on the frame but hope to hang a twig or rose hip wreath when I get one. I also put my favorite numbers up!

I love my little white dollar store pumpkins.

Caw, caw- crows! The dome and silver tray I bought from Melaine at My Sweet Savannah when she was at the French Flea market in Kirkland, Washington two weekends ago. She's a doll and had such great stuff! I also collect bare branches from my sister's farm to fill vases (the glass and metal in the top photo was .75 at a yard sale.)

I love tones of cream, beige, gold, and plaid for fall. This rustic frame came from Value Village for 1.99. I framed a photo of a rescued wolf named Pahana which I saw when I visited Wolf Haven International this past summer. The birch candle holder I had, and the battery-operated candle is also from Value Village.

It's hard to believe that summer is really over. I took a jog today and as I ran a long the leaf-carpeted path, I could really feel it in the air.......

.......enjoy the season, everyone!
